Within a small area that does not exceed thirty square meters on the roof of his house in the city of As-Suwayda, Osama Al-Jabai, a man in his sixties, began producing vegetables and summer crops, about two months after the launch of his experience, which constitutes an important model for rooftop cultivation within cities and the need to encourage them.
Al-Jibai or Abu Jala, as he is called, called his experience the “Hayat” initiative, based on the fact that agriculture is life and continuity, and his desire to expand it in his home and circulate it to benefit the largest possible number of citizens, especially within the city, where there are no large areas for agriculture compared to the countryside.
During his interview with SANA reporter, Al-Jabai said that his experience came out of his love for agricultural work and his experience in this field, in an effort to achieve domestic self-sufficiency in the agricultural product in light of its high prices in the market, in addition to working to sell surplus production during the coming period.
