But now the railway has expressed itself - and rejected responsibility for the traffic jams on the roads.

A spokeswoman makes it clear: "The facts clearly show that the railway construction site has nothing to do with the road-side restrictions." The fact is that no road closures, constrictions or even diversions have been set up in the Schliersee area due to the requirements of the railway and its construction site. "The currently existing restrictions are due exclusively to the ongoing road construction," emphasizes the spokeswoman.


The spokeswoman also comments on the much criticized gravel transports from Hausham to Fischhausen - and corrects some figures. Instead of the first-mentioned 10,000 tons of old ballast, only 2,500 tons were actually transported. Only 115 truck trips and not 450 loads were necessary for this. The action itself was carried out and completed from June 11th to 13th, i.e. within three days. It became necessary because the old gravel base layer no longer met the current stability requirements. However, it "did not lead to any additional impairments in the period in question". Further transports by road are not planned. The new ballast will be delivered from the north directly to the construction site in Hausham.The old material in Fischhausen will only be disposed of with truck semitrailers after the road construction work has been completed.


In addition, the responsible construction company had very well examined alternatives to storing the old ballast at the Fischhausen train station. For example, the use of the Brenten garbage dump in Hausham. The landfill owner rejected this. According to the railway spokeswoman, the transport route via the Leitzach Valley had to be discarded, as this route would have been a considerable detour and would have resulted in higher environmental pollution. "In addition, the roads there are sometimes unsuitable for such traffic."


The work of the railway would be completed tomorrow, Tuesday, according to the spokeswoman. They were necessary to lay the cable systems for the new interlocking technology along the tracks. Supply lines (water, electricity, telecommunications) that cross the rails have also been renewed. With the new technology, for example, the signal box in Schliersee is operated by remote control from a dispatcher in Weilheim and no longer needs a permanent crew.


The request, repeatedly formulated by Hausham's mayor Jens Zangenfeind, to secure the old level crossing in Hausham with human guards during the relocation, answered the railway positively. However, this was planned until the start of operation of the new system on July 17th (depending on the road construction). However, it remains open in the statement whether this will - as hoped - reduce the closing time of the barriers. Likewise a reaction to the appeal of the construction companies and Schliersee's Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer to remove the camera mast responsible for the single-lane traffic management at the Westenhofen level crossing.
