Increased enforcement at Ben Gurion Airport: "Huge queue for inspections, fear of returning to isolation"
Significant loads were felt today following landings of aircraft in Israel from countries defined as red, and due to the aggravation of enforcement in the shadow of the renewed eruption of the corona.
Many of the returnees from abroad, some vaccinated against the virus, were disappointed by the congestion, and some were allowed to leave the airport only about an hour and a half after landing.

Preparing for the summer months and stopping the corona: one-time tracking bracelets for those entering the country (Photo: Niv Aharonson)
At Ben Gurion Airport, significant loads were felt today (Monday) due to landings of planes in Israel from countries defined as red, and due to increased enforcement in the shadow of the renewed outbreak of coronavirus. Only about an hour and a half after landing.
Others wondered how they would pass the time while in solitary confinement.
Yulia Kishionevsky, who landed in Israel from Russia in the afternoon, said that the flight she had scheduled about a month ago had been canceled and that the queue for corona examinations was huge.
"I had to do a corona test in Russia, and make a health declaration. Here in Israel I also did a test and asked if I was vaccinated or not," she said.
She said that although she landed from Russia, which is defined as a red state, she did not receive any special instructions, and was only told to go to isolation immediately.

Bella S., who was waiting in the field for her family members who came from Moscow, whom she had not seen for two years, said she was very excited to see them again, despite the strict conditions.
As for the isolation conditions, she said that "they will sit at home because they are Israelis, they have a separate room with a proper bath and they will be there."
S., a resident of Karmiel, stated that she will not travel with her relatives in the same vehicle, as required by the guidelines: "We do not travel with them because it is forbidden. They are only allowed with a taxi, we meet all the requirements."
According to Lev Dubrovsky, who also landed in Moscow, he received permission to come to Israel from the Ministry of Health only a few days ago.
"There was no procedure," he emphasizes, "the flight was not full, only a hundred people on a large plane. I was vaccinated two months ago and now I am in complete isolation at home in Ashdod."

Lev admits he does not know how he will spend his time in solitary confinement: "Sitting at home, I do not know what to do. I am a chef by profession and I do not know what I do."
According to him, the tests and processes at Ben Gurion Airport actually went smoothly, "they were good."
