A wide variety of items could be seen in the domestic business world in addition to the regular range in recent months.

During the strict Corona restrictions, they also often became a stage.

On Saturday the open-air exhibition "Diversity in the shop window" opened in Holzkirchen.

Holzkirchen

- In a cheerful, relaxed atmosphere, actors and interested parties met at the start in front of the Holzkirchen community library. The mere opportunity to meet like-minded people again personally and to find an unplanned opportunity to chat created a special atmosphere. And that long before Anke Bahr from HELF, the Holzkirchen initiative for voluntary work, local engagement and participation supported by the community foundation, welcomed the guests with her colleague Ulrike Henking - and asked the guests of honor: "What is diversity for you?"

District Administrator Olaf von Löwis, who wore a colorful straw hat as an outward sign of diversity, confessed to having prepared. He interviewed his wife and press spokeswoman, and both of them called "freedom" without hesitation. “There must be something to it.” Holzkirchen's mayor, Christoph Schmid, led his neighborhood when he lived in an international three-in-hand car with Belgians and Englishmen. Kulturvision chairwoman Monika Ziegler as co-organizer took up the aspect of the fruitful coexistence of people of different origins and told of 32 associations from the district that took part in the hands-on campaign. “How exactly you define your concept of diversity is shown in the photos,” she invited those present to swarm.

The pictures, staged by theater pedagogue Sarah Thompson and photographed by Petra Kurbjuhn and Manfred Lehner, invited not only to look at and to find out more, but also to discuss. Or just to be amazed, such as the faces of the Art and Culture Working Group of the Otterfing Citizens' Forum, alienated with bold colors. We started talking, exchanging ideas and discovering familiar things such as erecting the maypole in the Tegernsee Valley, but above all a lot of new things.

"So many great things happen that you often don't notice," Thompson summed up the photo shoots, which would have greatly enriched her.

“Diversity means the freedom to be able to choose,” she added, adding her personal definition.

“Diversity makes us resilient, strong and democratic,” emphasized Bahr.

And Henking encouraged people to take part: "Come to us, we will find the right volunteer position in which you can develop."

The exhibition

The open-air exhibition sponsored by the District Office and the Bavarian Coordination Center for Voluntary Work and Civic Engagement (lagfa) can be seen until July 16 in 21 shop windows between the market square and Holzkirchen train station.

On sunny days, it is advisable to look at the pictures on the market square in the afternoon because of the reflective light.

At the Sparkasse, you need patience before stock exchange prices and information on offers are leafed through in the digital picture frames.
