The demolition and reconstruction project of Yide Building on Shaukeiwan East Street started last Friday (18th), and the project will take about 45 days.
During the demolition period, the adjoining Dongming Building’s 8th floor corridor was cracked, and the 7th floor units were more concrete. Residents were worried that the construction would affect the structure of the building and a building accident would occur.
This (21st) morning, the Buildings Department sent staff to inspect the Yide Building site and will check with the residents of Dongming Building and the district councillors about the current situation.
When District Councillor Leung Wing Sze and several residents of Tung Ming Building went to the construction site to learn about the inspection situation of the Buildings Department.
Staff of the Buildings Department took photos at work and asked the contractor about the project.
After a round of surveys, the department staff went to Dongming Building to check the cracks and discussed the current situation with residents of Dongming Building.
"Hong Kong 01" is enquiring the results of the inspection with the Buildings Department to see if the construction has affected the structural safety of Tung Ming Building.
