In the future, the Erding town hall will operate its own gastronomy.

It wasn't a voluntary choice.

Erding - Just over a year ago, Reinhold Dangl announced that he would give up the Stadthallen gastronomy on July 31 of this year, the lockdown broke the neck of the recognized caterer.

Events are now possible again, but the town hall is still without restaurateurs.

That is why the municipal facility is now taking over this branch of operation itself. Stefanie Dern from Marketing at the Stadthalle announced this.

Since the spring, the GmbH had been looking for a new tenant - ultimately without success. “We had numerous conversations. And yet the pandemic overshadowed the search for a new high-performing partner. Corona hit event catering with a drop in sales of 55 percent - even more than restaurants and canteens, "says a press release.

“There is still no prospect of an economically profitable restart of event catering over the next few months in view of the limited number of guests and restrictions due to hygiene requirements,” regrets managing director Jutta Kistner.

The interest of the market was "sobering".

There were quite a few applicants, including potentially suitable ones, who then withdrew for various reasons, Kistner continued.

"Unfortunately, many ultimately shied away from the risk of expanding in the current situation."

That is why the management and the supervisory board decided to run the catering trade as a separate branch of business.

Kistner sees this as “a challenge and a great opportunity at the same time”.

According to the press release, numerous other event venues are doing the same.

The customers who book the hall would get everything from a single source.

They want to focus more on ecological, regionally produced and fair trade products.

Kistner reports that business is gradually picking up again.

“In addition to some new and postponed cultural events, autumn is already well booked with a few regular customers' meetings,” says the manager happily.

The slow ramp-up enables the town hall to grow into the new gastronomic challenge.

Now it is a matter of finding suitable staff, cooks, service staff and temporary workers.

The application process runs on the homepage www.stadthalle-erding.de.
