The workshops of the branch of the General Company for Roads and Bridges in Lattakia working in the treatment of partial slippage on the Al-Haffah excavation road have completed the work of excavating the soil on the site to the foundation layer and moving it as a first stage to start paving operations with rock layers as part of the treatment that it implements in coordination with the branch of the Public Corporation for Road Transport.

The Director of the Public Corporation for Road Transport Branch, Engineer Musab Ahmed, told SANA reporter that the slip on the road came at a distance of 75 meters. Difficulty moving soil by rain.

Ahmed indicated that after the end of the first stage, through excavation to reach the foundation layer, the workshops moved to paving works using rocks with a diameter of one meter and a thickness of about 3 meters, and the second layer of paving with stones of smaller diameters and up to 25 centimeters and a height of about two meters.

Ahmed pointed out to work later on concrete works through the establishment of interconnected box gates to achieve safe transportation and not create a heavy load on the road structure and within the limits of ownership, indicating that the entire work on the site will be under completion at the beginning of next October, including paving work.

For his part, the Director of the General Company for Roads and Bridges Branch, Engineer Ammar Haider, explained in a similar statement that the works on the site are carried out on an area a little more than the slip and with an estimated length of 100 meters, with excavation works to a depth of up to 20 meters, indicating that the works take into account the bad soil situation in the site and the protection of the site. The road is through the construction of a waterway to collect water in an estuary towards the adjacent natural river after the process of paving stone and gravel in a box pit, followed by the work of laying the remains, concrete works and paving.

Haider pointed out that the box ferries will be tasked with reducing weight and collecting water, stressing that the road will be reopened to traffic during the month of October, when all works will be completed in addition to the works outside the slipping area and include the trap wall to protect the road from collapses in some places along the road with The presence of rain ferries to drain the water.

The partial slippage in the soil below the Al-Haffah Extension Road occurred in the year 2019, which witnessed more than 63 cases of slip and collapse of the soil on roads in Syria as a result of heavy rains at the time, where the annual rate was approximately 160 percent.
