Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed today that there is currently no reason for Russia to remove the United States from its list of unfriendly countries before implementing the agreements reached at the recent Russian-American Geneva summit.
And the news agency “TASS” quoted Peskov as saying in response to a question about the possibility of removing the United States from the list of unfriendly countries after the meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and American Joe Biden in Geneva last Wednesday: “This matter does not enter into force until we see the results of the agreements being implemented There are currently no grounds for making any changes.”
Peskov noted that meetings at the highest level lead to understandings, but understandings remain hanging in the air without implementing and establishing relevant working mechanisms and without substantive agreements.
On May 14, Russia published its official government-approved list of foreign countries it considers unfriendly, and it includes only the United States and the Czech Republic.
It should be noted that Peskov made it clear after the summit meeting in Geneva on the 16th of this month that the meeting gave Presidents Putin and Biden an opportunity to inform each other of their positions and to understand what areas of cooperation could be.
