The joy can be seen in him: Michael Sidarous can throw honey again.

A few weeks ago it looked very different.

Back then, the hobby beekeeper was standing in front of a pile of broken glass.

Geretsried - There is one thing you can rely on in sappy films: the happy ending.

In real life, however, it usually doesn't go according to the script.

It usually depends on whether you wallow in your misery or fight your way out.

Michael Sidarous belongs to the second variety.

“Everything bad has something good,” he says.

Bee colonies do not survive attack

Review: At the beginning of April of this year, he was faced with a pile of broken glass.

Strangers had completely destroyed his apiary on the Böhmwiese.

They levered out the windows, threw all the inventory into the forest and left empty beverage cans in the little hut.

Sidarous' four bee colonies did not survive the sheer destructiveness.

A good two months later, the 44-year-old can spin honey again.

His harvest will not be as abundant as in previous years, but a start has been made.

“I was frustrated and wondered if it made sense again,” he admits.

But his wife Sandra encouraged him.

Sidarous makes contact with young beekeepers

And something else motivated Sidarous to start over.

The incident resulted in contact with a young beekeeper.

The Mayr family from the Wolfratshauser kitchen studio of the same name had heard of the attack on the apiary and offered support with the reconstruction.

As a thank you, Sidarous has now given Felix Mayr, the son of the family, bee colonies.

He and his father have been of great help in cleaning up and repairing, said Sidarous.

It's great when “young people show interest,” says the 44-year-old.

He is particularly pleased that he can now beekeep with Felix.

Each of them now has two economic races and offshoots of them.

Before the apiary was destroyed, Sidarous had more bees, but the prices are unusually high this year.

“It was a very, very bad winter and spring didn't really start.

The beekeepers had high losses. ”He has not yet received any compensation from his insurance company, but he has submitted the damage.

"We will see."

Misere helps the hobby beekeeper on a part-time basis

As if the luck of the restored apiary weren't enough, chance added another reason to be confident. Sidarous also got on with the whole misery on a part-time basis. Felix Leipold from Radio Geretsried became aware of the matter through the article in our newspaper about the incident. An interview in the studio in the former art bunker followed.

“The object fascinated me,” says the 44-year-old.

He had been looking for suitable premises for his professional association-certified first aid courses for a long time.

The civil servant also runs an online first aid shop (hobby horse defibrillators for clubs) and conducts training for the MDS Bayern (“I was a paramedic during my civil servant training”).

Most recently, he was able to use a judo school for this, but his own and above all affordable rooms would "make things much easier", says Sidarous.

So he got in touch with the owner of the property, the Wolfratshausen company Krämmel.

Shortly afterwards he held the lease in his hands and had everything arranged.

There is even a private terrace for breaks.

Sidarous: "It turned out very nice."

One downer, however, remains.

The police investigations into the perpetrators are still ongoing.

And recently someone tweaked the cable from Sidarous' surveillance camera on the apiary.

There is also damage to property at the neighboring forest kindergarten.

"In the Corona times, many could not do anything with themselves and that is now discharging," suspects Michael Sidarous.

He hopes everything will get back to normal.

And the police and security guards have an eye on the Böhmwiese.
