Mogadishu, SANA- At least 16 soldiers were killed as a result of an attack by the extremist Al-Shabab movement linked to al-Qaida organization

At least 16 soldiers were killed as a result of an attack by the Al-Qaeda-linked extremist movement (Al-Shabab) on a government military base in Mudug region, central Somalia.

Somali media reported that the attack occurred this morning, when a car bomb exploded near the base and then the gunmen tried to storm it, noting that the exact number of casualties is not yet known, while sources are talking about the killing of at least 16 soldiers during the attack.

Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack on the base used by Somali government forces.

Several areas in Somalia are witnessing bombings and attacks, most of which are attributed to the extremist Al-Shabab movement.
