The areas planted with summer crops and vegetables in As-Suwayda for the current season have reached 14,100 dunums, with an implementation rate of 112 percent of the total planting plan.
The Assistant Director of Agriculture in Sweida, Engineer Alaa Shehayeb, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that the majority of the cultivated areas of summer crops and vegetables were for irrigated crops, and amounted to 12,050 dunums, while the rest of the areas were distributed among rainfed crops.
And Eng. Shehayeb indicated that the tomato crop occupied more than half of the cultivated areas, pointing out that many crops and vegetables began to be harvested, such as cucumbers, cucumbers, melons and zucchini.
The areas planted with summer crops in As-Suwayda last season amounted to 11810 dunums.
