The Neufahrner Greens wanted to know firsthand how far they are on the way there.

Neufahrn

- The goal of the Citizens Energy Cooperative Freisinger Land is the decentralized full supply with renewable energies in the three sectors of electricity, heat and mobility.

At an online event by the Neufahrner Greens on Thursday, BEG board member Andreas Henze and local council and environmental officer Frank Bandle spoke about the importance of renewable energies.

The BEG is the most important actor in the district when it comes to renewable energies and a district on the way to more sustainability. It is particularly important for the cooperative to always implement its projects with citizen participation: Citizen solar roofs, citizen solar parks, citizen wind turbines or rental electricity projects are just a few examples of the energy transition with the involvement of citizens in the district. One of the latest projects are also electric charging stations that the BEG is having installed in 17 municipalities in the district so that electric vehicles can also be charged in smaller towns in the future. Chairman Andreas Henze spoke about these and numerous other projects at the virtual get-together.

Another big project is starting right now: June 27th is the date for the groundbreaking for the solar park in Mintraching. “In six months at the latest, there will also be sustainable electricity from there,” said Henze. The company "OneSolar" will build the solar park on the ten hectare property provided for this purpose. The plant is expected to generate around ten million kilowatt hours per year. This corresponds to about a twenty-fifth of what the district needs in terms of open-space systems in order to move towards the climate protection goal of CO2 neutrality.

In order to achieve this goal, according to BEG board member Andreas Henze, however, one cannot rely exclusively on open-space systems such as in Mintraching. “In order for Freising and the surrounding area to function 100 percent with renewable energies, we would also need around 34 wind turbines and photovoltaic systems on 30 percent of the roof area. “It would be great to have modules on more roofs, but we will probably not be able to achieve more than 30 percent in the voluntary area,” says Henze. The deadline for this is the year 2035: If you want to support the “1.5 degrees Celsius target” of the Paris climate agreement, then the Freising district must be climate-neutral by then.

In Neufahrn, according to environmental and energy officer Frank Bandle, the social station is considering whether to implement a photovoltaic system on the roof.

According to the Green Municipal Council, the second Jahnhalle has already been selected for this.

Since the topic was not welcomed in the old municipal council, it is now up to Bandle to take off after the municipal elections last year and to promote renewable energies even further in the Neufahrn municipality.

He also made this promise to the listeners of the virtual lecture, in which Bandle discussed the global climate situation as well as the regional goals.
