The French Ministry of the Interior announced today that the turnout in the regional elections by midday is still low.
Reuters quoted a statement by the Ministry of the Interior as saying that the turnout rate by midday in the second round of the French regional elections amounted to 12.66 percent, noting that it was close to the lowest record level recorded in the first round of 12.22 percent.
The Ministry of the Interior indicated that the collective abstention from voting makes it difficult for poll organizers to predict the outcome of the vote.
It is noteworthy that the failure of French President Emmanuel Macron's policies was reflected in the results of his "Republic on the Move" party in the first round of local elections, less than a year before the presidential elections.
Two out of three voters abstained from voting in the first round elections, which constitutes the weakest participation since the beginning of the Fifth Republic in 1985.
