Starnberg

- The tunnel construction in Starnberg makes it possible, the surface areas can be redistributed. So that cyclists and pedestrians do not fall behind when planning, the campaign alliance for cycle path construction relocated this year's rally to Starnberg as part of city cycling. The motto was: “fair share” traffic space. The demand of the alliance: align above-ground urban planning with people, reorganize traffic areas in a binding manner. More than 60 cyclists came to the church square for the demonstration.

On a day like yesterday it was of course a show, because the excursion traffic raged around the church square. When the gathering then set off by bike, escorted by three heavy police motorcycles and several personnel carriers, nothing worked for a moment. Operations manager Oliver Jauch from PI Starnberg had decided to completely block the lanes in the direction of travel of the cyclists. “The assembly shouldn't be overtaken, it's too dangerous,” he said. Ringing and waving, the demonstrators cycled happily from the church square over the Tutzinger-Hof intersection to the district administration and then back after a U-turn. For many it was probably the first time on this busy road, otherwise you don't dare to go there by bike. Many drivers waved, thumbs up. Except for one.He rolled down the window and yelled loud and clear: "Assholes!"

The tensions between the road users were the topic of the rally beforehand and the discussion that followed. "We want a street space in which everyone has the same rights," said moderator Irmgard Franken from the Stagenda. But there was a lack of an overall concept and multi-year strategies. One question is how many tracks will be used to lead cyclists into the city in the future. “We need a new approach. We are not against cars, but we need more respect for those who are not in the car. ”Anton Maier, as ADFC district executive, reiterated his demands such as speed 30 in urban areas and stronger advertising for the 1.50 meter minimum distance.

After the demo, the Green Bundestag candidate Martina Neubauer and Carmen Wegge, SPD Bundestag candidate for the Starnberg-Landsberg-Germering constituency, discussed. The two agreed. Neubauer appealed for a change in the road traffic regulations, "that is the linchpin". Often it would also be lip service. "I'm only optimistic when everyone is ready to take the topic seriously." In her closing words, Franken appealed to all road users: "It depends on each of us, no matter how we are traveling."
