Poetry is a creative product that addresses imagination and develops sense and its use in the social and educational upbringing of children contributes to generating creativity and innovation in them and providing them with a rich vocabulary of vocabulary.
Proceeding from the importance of poetry directed to children, the Syrian General Book Authority in the Ministry of Culture recently issued two collections of Syrian poets of the current generation who have achieved remarkable successes in the field of children's literature, namely (My Little Moon) by Siraj Jarad and (Maa al-Sham) by Bayan Al-Safadi.
The collection (My Little Moon), whose paintings were drawn by artist Qahtan Al-Tala’a, includes 20 poetic poems that navigate the world of children and present them with lyrical poetry drawn from the beautiful nature with its trees, seasons, fresh birds, small moon and sun to the cloud from which raindrops fall.
The poet Siraj also takes the children on a trip to the Euphrates River and introduces them to the child Sami as he plays with his ball and draws his painting and paints it with his bright colors.
As for the collection (Maa al-Sham), whose paintings were drawn by artist Duha al-Khatib, it contained two sections, the first directed to kindergarten children, including 10 poems, and the second directed to children from the age of 8 to 12 years, consisting of 15 poems.
The poems of the group, despite the different age groups addressed to them, were distinguished by their richness in the topics and addressing the child's imagination according to the requirements of each age stage in an easy and smooth language.
It is noteworthy that the poet Siraj Jarad holds a degree in Arabic literature and is the recipient of a number of local and Arab prizes in the field of children's literature, published in many Arab and local periodicals.
As for the poet Bayan Al-Safadi, he holds a degree in Arabic language and literature. He has published and composed works in more than one medium, read, visual and audio. His works have been included in courses in Arab countries. He has dozens of publications for adults and children in poetry and literary research.
