It is the most indecisive ballot of the second round of regional.
According to initial estimates, Renaud Muselier is given the lead this Sunday evening with 57.7% ahead of Thierry Mariani (42.3%), according to initial estimates from Ipsos Sopra Steria for France Télévisions, Radio France and LCP-National Assembly / Public Senate.
The whole week between rounds, there was total uncertainty in this region, arguably the only one that the National Rally could hope to win after its poor performance in the first round at the national level. In Paca, Thierry Mariani came first last Sunday at 36.38% against 31.91% for his opponent in the second round. The polls have given them neck and neck all week.
Until the end, the campaign for regional elections in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur looked like a soap opera. This was the case even before the first round, when a real alliance between Renaud Muselier's LR list and that of La République en Marche was on the table. The outgoing president had finally contented himself with modifying his list at least, obtaining all the same the withdrawal of the list of the majority. And then there was the psychodrama after the first round, when the ecological candidate Jean-Laurent Felizia initially decided to stay in the second round, before changing his mind under pressure from the staffs of the left, to which their candidate risked making the RN win by behaving in this way.
In 2015, the left had already preferred to step aside at the end of the first round, in an attempt to prevent Marion Maréchal Le Pen from seizing the region.
It was ultimately Christian Estrosi who won, with 55.94% of the vote against 44.06% for the FN candidate.
123 regional councilor seats are at stake in this election, to be renewed or renewed on June 20 and 27.
