A 37-year-old man died in the fire in his cell on the night of Saturday to Sunday at the Vezin-le-Coquet prison center, near Rennes, firefighters said on Sunday.

Called at 3:53 am Sunday, about twenty firefighters responded to this fire.
Starting from the mattress, the fire remained confined to the cell, according to the firefighters, confirming information from France Bleu.
Contacted, the prison administration did not immediately follow up.
