12.22% of voters went to the polls at the same time last Sunday, in the first round of the elections.

A little better than the first round, but still a lot worse than five years ago.

12.66% of voters went to vote this Sunday at noon in mainland France, in the second round of regional and departmental elections.

An almost stable figure since they were 12.22% at the same time last Sunday, a historically low rate.

By way of comparison, 19.59% of voters voted in the second round of the previous regional ballot, on December 13, 2015.

In the first round of these elections, last Sunday, the final turnout had reached only 33.28%.

Such a low rate had never been reached during an election in France, and the whole of the political class was moved by it.

Only the referendum for the five-year term, in 2000, had even less attracted the French to the polls (30.19% of voters).

It remains to wait for the consolidated figures at 8 p.m. to know if the voters will mobilize.

Five and a half years ago, the final stake had reached 58.41%.
