Suicide at 18, on his Instagram the words 'death to gays'

   The Turin prosecutor is investigating the death of an eighteen year old who committed suicide last Sunday by throwing himself under a train between Lingotto and Moncalieri stations.


    Bullying and homophobia are the hypotheses put forward by the investigation coordinated by prosecutor Antonella Barbera.

The young man did not leave any notes, but on his Instagram page, among the numerous messages of condolence, there are insults and even a "death to gays".


    The young man's story is reported by the newspaper La Stampa.



    "The problem with closed minds is that their mouths are open", the young man wrote on the social network, suggesting that his homosexuality was not always accepted. "He confessed to me that he was afraid of some people. He didn't explain who they were, he didn't mention names. He was worried. He said they questioned his homosexuality", his brother Mario tells the Turin newspaper. "They made fun of him because he was homosexual," some friends report.


    The parents ask for justice and the prosecutor tries to shed light on his death. The railway police officers acquired the messages, went to speak with the teachers of the professional institute that the young man attended to become a bartender and waiter, with classmates, friends.

"Bullying, in any form, is a scourge of our society. My closeness to family in this time of great pain. Nothing can fill the void that Orlando has left, but may this serve as a warning to say 'never again' ". Thus the Councilor for Rights of the City of Turin, Marco Giusta, about the suicide of the eighteen year old on which the prosecutor opened a file assuming that he was the victim of bullying and homophobia.



"We now have an important chance to change things - underlines Giusta -, and I turn to the senators: approve the Zan Bill. Support a change that can start from schools, so that they become a safe place where new generations can be trained without the fear of being oneself and oneself ".
