Due to the vaccination scandal at Munich Airport, one was on everyone's lips: the Munich doctor Udo Beckenbauer.
But who is the man who tried to put the buck on the government?
Munich - While numerous people in Germany are still waiting for a corona vaccination *, Italian employees of a luxury resort in Sardinia were immunized at Munich Airport at the end of May.
The scandal spread widely.
Also because in the meantime the vaccination doctor Udo Beckenbauer had denounced the federal government * for having made the appointments.
But who is Udo Beckenbauer actually?
Vaccination scandal at the airport: Udo Beckenbauer a man with two faces
At first glance, the doctor from Munich seems to be a man of two extremes. He has several practices in the state capital and on Lake Tegernsee. In some of them he mainly cares for private patients. In the noble ski resort of Kitzbühel, he is said to have enjoyed himself with high society, writes the

. On the other hand, he is a long-time member of the board of trustees of the German Doctors aid organization. According to the association's website, however, he has canceled his membership since June 24th. He wanted to keep him out of the scandal. In previous years he was often out and about for weeks in the slums in the Philippines and India to help the poorest of the poor free of charge.
In the eyes of his fellow human beings, he is often portrayed as contradicting himself.
On the one hand, he is helpful and an excellent doctor.
But dealing with cash patients and staff should often be difficult, writes the

.
So how did it come about that Beckenbauer took part in the illegal vaccination campaign * at the airport?
Vaccination scandal at the airport: Beckenbauer doesn't understand it himself
He
did not want to speak to
the

. But his lawyer, Thomas Pfister, commented. After a detailed report on the innumerable charitable commitments of his client, at some point in the three-hour conversation the language came up about the violation of the vaccination ordinance *. That was a mixture of "thoughtlessness, naivety and vanity". A "stupid favor". A blackout from Beckenbauer who did not think about it. Even after Pfister had repeatedly bored out, Beckenbauer only replied: “He no longer understands it himself.” It was not criminal intentions, even if the public prosecutor's office was also investigating the suspicion of bribery. Pfister said: "Corruption is always secret."
In the case at Munich Airport *, however, Beckenbauer has officially signed a drafted contract.
Everything was regulated in it.
50 euros per vaccination, or 6000 euros for 120 employees - plus a Bavarian snack.
But it wasn't just Beckenbauer who got the money.
Several doctors were involved in the action.
He only came in later and only vaccinated a handful of people, said Pfister.
The whole thing only came about because Beckenbauer knew a manager of the luxury department and wanted to do her a favor.
They are now also being investigated.
Vaccination scandal at the airport: Beckenbauer had a bad day
The investigation into the vaccination scandal is still ongoing - also against Beckenbauer.
The ambivalent doctor who runs a center for preventive medicine for the super-rich at Tegernsee and at the same time looks after 95 percent of patients with statutory health insurance in his practice in Milbertshofen.
A man who, according to
SZ, has got involved
with numerous aid organizations such as Power Child and who is otherwise supposed to keep cash patients waiting when private patients want to “go to Udo”.
His lawyer Pfister sums it up like this: Everyone has good days and bad days.
