A total of 15 air filter systems were installed in the Gmund primary school.
They serve to protect against corona - but also to ward off other pathogens.
Gmund -
Since the middle of May
, a
total of 15 air filter systems have been ensuring that the air in the classrooms of the Gmund primary school is cleared of contaminants such as viruses, bacteria and pollen.
“Although the filter systems do not offer one hundred percent protection against corona viruses, they do play a part in this.
It was important to us to exhaust all possibilities, ”explains Mayor Alfons Besel.
The community had therefore submitted applications for air purifiers together with the school.
The acquisition costs amounted to and 15,000 euros, half of which is covered by the funding program of the Ministry of Culture.
Filters are also used after a pandemic
To the delight of the primary school principal Susanne Riedl and the entire school team, the schoolchildren no longer have to wear masks in the classroom since June 23rd. This regulation applies regardless of whether filter systems are used or not. "The air purifiers definitely make us feel good when the children and teachers take off their masks," says Riedl. At the current temperatures, lessons usually take place with the window open.
Long ventilation times become more uncomfortable in autumn. The air filter systems double the period between the necessary ventilation times. "Our CO² traffic lights, which are still in use, show us when it is time to open the windows," explains the Rector. Thanks to the air filter, this is only due half as often - a great advantage in the cold season. Even after the pandemic, the filter systems should remain in use and avoid the odd cold or even alleviate hay fever.
