A 28-year-old man, Zephaniah McLeod, pleaded on Monday June 28 guilty to manslaughter and attempted murder in knife attacks in Birmingham (central England) in September 2020.

The man had been arrested after attacks that took place within an hour and a half on the night of September 5 to 6 in several places in Birmingham.
A 23-year-old Jacob Billington died after being stabbed and seven others were injured.
Zephaniah McLeod, who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, appeared by video conference in a Birmingham court from the hospital where he is being treated.
He only spoke to confirm his identity and plead guilty to manslaughter, four counts of attempted murder and three counts of causing bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
His sentence will be pronounced at hearings scheduled for September 27 and 28.
