Montpellier Danse is 41 years old.
The Batsheva Dance Company, with a new piece by its brilliant choreographer Ohad Naharin, was to mark the opening of this edition.
The company has been banned from travel due to the pandemic.
It was therefore a piece by choreographer Arkadi Zaides, followed by the creation of Rachid Ouramdane, new director of the Théâtre de Chaillot in Paris, who opened the festival.
The next day, Fabrice Ramalingom embodied the presence of a regional company by creating
Frérocité
.
And Daina Ashbee was giving a performance.
Four shows and four radically different forms, a way of proving that the DNA of this festival which, during its long career, has revealed a lot of talents and raised a few revolutions, remains intact.
Montpellier Danse is the festival of all possibilities.
