A representative of the parents' council wanted to know from the mayor and city council why the new construction of the Caritas day care center was not progressing quickly.

She was pissed off.

Unterschleißheim

- “The construction site is covered, it's raining in”, the mother of two sons on the city council annoyed about the slow construction progress at the Caritas day care center in Unterschleeißheim.

Two years ago, children and parents wrote letters to the mayor asking them to create more space for the after-school care groups. "The children had a lot of fun," even the television reported on the action.

The participation of the children is very important in the after-school care center, explained the parents spokeswoman.

Mother complains: "Children have no lobby"

At that time, the mayor promised a beautiful new house where all after-school care groups would come together.

She accused Böck of moving too little forward, that the children were not informed and that none of the children who had written letters would move into the new building.

In addition, the paths around the daycare center are muddy.

Apparently “children have no lobby”, so their conclusion.

Mayor Christoph Böck promises a site tour with the parents' council

Mayor Christoph Böck (SPD) showed understanding for the disappointment, but the city was not to blame for the circumstances. “We tried to absorb all the delays, and we actually made up for some.” At best, the timber construction would be inaugurated at the beginning of 2022, said Böck, “unless we encounter further delays.” Much did not go as the city wanted. However, a lot has been informed: "We have repeatedly reported here in the committees that we are not making as fast progress as planned." The press also reported. The after-school care center is involved in the entire project and schedule planning and receives all protocols. Nevertheless, Böck promised to try to improve communication. An on-site meeting with the architect and parents' council should take place before the summer holidays,so that parents and children can also find out what happens next.

New building should be finished in summer

A three-story new building for nine groups is being built on Ganghoferstraße, which was originally supposed to be completed this summer.

There was already a construction delay with the first tender for the timber construction, because the offers were well above the cost estimate.

A new tender followed, as reported, the cost estimate was exceeded again, but the city council awarded an order.

However, the work for the first and second construction phase was not carried out as agreed.

The city is currently legally examining the reasons for this.

Delivery problems with building materials

In the meantime, however, all contracts have been awarded, according to the town hall.

As long as there are no delays due to delivery problems with the construction material, all companies involved in the construction can work seamlessly hand in hand.

The interior work is currently underway in the first construction phase.

However, there are currently delivery difficulties for building materials such as dry screed, fiber cement boards and materials for impact sound insulation.

The interior work is to begin at the end of September 2021

The second construction phase is scheduled to start on July 19. The city is in weekly contact with the timber builder, city spokesman Steven Ahlrep informs, in order to secure the appointment. According to the company, the start date can be kept, there are no problems with the wood procurement, "because the material is already stored". The completion of the second construction phase is planned for September 14th. This is followed by roofing work and the completion of the facade. Interior work is to begin at the end of September, and paths and outdoor facilities are to be created. According to the city, it will be the turn of the play areas in March 2022.
