JobsDB's "2021 Salary Survey Report" shows that nearly half of the people are open to leaving Hong Kong to work, and even consider paving the way for immigration. The country or region preferred by the younger and older generations is very different!

JobsDB commissioned an independent survey agency in March this year to conduct an online questionnaire survey of 4288 local wage earners to understand their current employment status.

The results show that 3% of people will move to other areas in the near future and have begun to look for jobs, while another 23% will consider leaving Hong Kong to work within two years to pave the way for immigrants.

Classified by age, 54% of people 25 years of age or younger are considering or have begun to look for jobs in other regions. This means that the largest number of people of all age groups are open to working outside Hong Kong.

When asked why they wanted to work in Hong Kong, 55% wanted to broaden their knowledge and broaden their horizons, followed by 43% who said that working experience outside Hong Kong is valuable for personal development.

Among those who would not consider leaving Hong Kong to work, the most worry about being separated from their family and friends, accounting for 62%, followed by nearly half of them worrying about adapting to different workplace cultures and lifestyles.

Regarding which country or region they would choose to work in, 41% of the people preferred Australia, followed by 39% of the UK.

Australia, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan are the top three for those under 46 years old, while Mainland China is the first choice for those 46 years of age or older.
