A musical based on
Thelma & Louise
, the road movie starring Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis released in 1991, is in preparation.
The film's screenwriter, Callie Khouri, told
Hollywood Reporter
that the project is still
"in its early stages"
.
"We already have a plot and a song, but because of the pandemic, it's been a very long time since we have not found each other
," she explains.
So we are still at the very beginning, but it is very promising ”
.
Callie Khouri, who won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for this film, adds that the musical will be
"something totally different"
from the film directed by Ridley Scott.
It is therefore a brand new project that will see the light of day.
Several times asked to work on a reworked version of the film, the screenwriter had been reluctant.
"It was suggested to me several times, but I think the directors had done a great job."

features two women whose weekend excursion turns into a runaway across the United States when Louise, (Susan Sarandon) kills a man who is trying to rape Thelma (Geena Davis).
