It's never been so hot in Canada.
In the town of Lytton, 46.6 degrees were measured - a new national record.
And for the coming days, the heat is still announced.
Vancouver - During a heat wave in western Canada, local authorities recorded the highest temperature in the history of the North American country.
In the city of Lytton (province of British Columbia), the authorities recorded 46.6 degrees on Sunday, as the local weather authority announced.
This clearly exceeded the previous record of 45 degrees in Midale (Saskatchewan) from 1937.
In numerous other places in North America, including the state of Oregon in the western United States, record local temperatures of well over 40 degrees were measured.
For the coming days, heat and persistent drought are predicted in large parts of the country, and the risk of forest fires is increasing in many places.
The temperatures currently registered in western Canada sometimes even exceeded those of places significantly further south, such as the US desert city of Las Vegas.
