The HSG Würm-Mitte in its familiar form will be history from July.

Then the TV Planegg-Krailling leaves the alliance.

How things will continue in the long term is unclear.

Würmtal - When the minute hand jumps from 11:59 p.m. to midnight on this Wednesday, June 30th, the HSG Würm-Mitte in its current form is history.

Then the TV Planegg-Krailling withdraws from the handball game community with TSV Graefelfing.

Almost nine months ago, TV President Achim Loecher announced for the first time that his club would terminate the cooperation for the new season (we reported).

When asked by Merkur, he now confirms: "From the sporting side, we regret it very much, but we are officially canceling the handball TV program."

HSG Würm-Mitte: short-term continuity secured thanks to TSV Gräfelfing

At least in the short term, the operation of one of the biggest sporting figureheads in the Würmtal is not at risk.

Because TSV Gräfelfing will initially take over the HSG as the handball department.

The HSG is a successful model, we don't want to let handball go under.

Christoph Göbel, President of TSV Graefelfing

"The HSG Würm-Mitte is a successful model, we don't want handball to go under," explains TSV President Christoph Göbel.

Therefore, the club's executive committee agreed to step in as the sole sponsor, at least temporarily - i.e. for the coming season.

Financially, it is currently the "worst phase", since the TSV has already had high expenses with its general renovation on the club's premises.

Nevertheless, there was no alternative for Göbel.

“It's about the future of handball - especially for children and young people,” he says.

TV Planegg-Krailling is withdrawing from HSG Würm-Mitte for financial reasons

According to TV, the financing is also the reason for the association's withdrawal.

Since he could no longer or did not want to bear half of the costs, he submitted a compromise proposal to the cooperation partner from Graefelfing.

Specifically, it was about paying less in order to stay within their own budget and to continue to be part of the HSG, so that the handball players would not have to do without their advantages such as hall times in Planegg.

As an association, we are a non-profit organization.

Achim Loecher, President of TV Planegg-Krailling

The financial problem has been an issue in the club for years, explains Loecher, who puts the expenses for the handball players at a high five-digit amount.

“As an association, we are a non-profit organization,” he says.

The HSG had therefore been informed beforehand that it would have to take care of additional financing - for example through sponsorship such as the second division volleyball players.

The club did not ask for financial help from the municipality of Planegg, said President Loecher: “We don't want to jeopardize the other grants with another application.” The municipality is already actively supporting the association.

HSG Würm-Mitte: Letter from TV to handball members causes displeasure

"Despite numerous suggestions and efforts on our part, we were unfortunately unable to find a consensus with TSV Graefelfing that would allow us financially to remain part of the HSG - without causing economic damage to our entire club," writes TV - Club manager Madeleine Ullrich "on behalf of the Presidium" in a letter to the handball members of the TV Planegg-Krailling.

And further: "TSV Graefelfing has made the decision that it will forego any financial support from TV and has not agreed to a new contract."

The statements in the letter are heavy in the stomach of Graefelfing's President Göbel.

He does not want to get the buck with his club.

"The offer was that TV Planegg-Krailling would only cover 20 percent of the costs and TSV Graefelfing 80. We couldn't accept that," says Göbel.

In the long term, this is not acceptable for the TSV.

"Cooperation only works on an equal footing."

HSG Würm-Mitte is hoping for hall times in Planegg despite leaving TV

In future, TSV Graefelfing cannot entertain the handball players in their current form on their own - both financially and organizationally, on the front line due to insufficient hall capacities in the community area.

“Unfortunately we still only have one triple hall,” explains Göbel.

You have to be grateful to TSV Graefelfing that they step in alone, otherwise the sport would be dead.

Peter Köstler, Mayor of the municipality of Graefelfing

The hope now rests on the fact that, despite the dissolution of the HSG, there will continue to be hall times at neighboring Planegg.

Graefelfing's mayor, Peter Köstler, who himself was chairman of the gaming community for twelve years, wants to be “happy to get involved” in such negotiations.

He confesses to the uncertain future of the HSG Würm-Mitte: "As a handball player, my heart hurts."

The municipality of Graefelfing and TSV cannot save handball in the Würmtal alone

As the highest representative of the community, Köstler is still putting a little on the brakes financially.

"You have to be grateful to the TSV that they step in on their own for now, otherwise the sport would be dead. But I can't imagine that the Gräfelfing community will take over 100 percent of the subsidies from the Planegg and Krailling communities." already supported "with generous grants".

Graefelfing's mayor wants to be open to requests and inquiries.

Those responsible in Graefelfing are all a little surprised about the reasons for leaving TV.

“I can't quite understand that, it has worked well in recent years,” says Köstler, for example.

Press release TV Planegg-Krailling: Presidium wants to prevent personal liability

In a press release, the TV Presidium went into more detail on the decision: “In the past two years, all departments of TV Planegg-Krailling had to make budget cuts for economic reasons.

No department is preferred or disadvantaged.

However, the costs must fit into the framework of the income, and individual departmental budgets must not cause any damage to the entire association. "

We are already looking for new partners.

Benedikt Waterloo, chairman of the HSG Würm-Mitte

In addition, it says: "If the expenses exceed the income, this can lead to the presidium not being exonerated and thus being used for personal liability."

Quo vadis, handball?

HSG Würm-Mitte is looking for a new partner in the area

How will things go on with the HSG Würm-Mitte?

A cooperation between TSV Graefelfing and another club seems to be the only way to give handball in the Würmtal - both competitive and popular - a basis.

"We are already looking for new partners," says Benedikt Waterloo, handball department head of the TSV and chairman of the Noch-Spielgemeinschaft.

Mayor Peter Köstler could imagine the DJK Würmtal, which was once also a member of the HSG and resigned for organizational reasons: “Maybe they are ready again.” Waterloo, on the other hand, does not want to name the interviewees yet, but makes it clear: “There is still nothing concrete."

The "brand name" HSG Würm-Mitte is to be retained in the transition phase

Another problem for the transition period is the name.

The HSG Würm-Mitte would like to keep hers.

"It is known all over Germany," says Waterloo, and Christoph Göbel also says: "This is a brand name."

In the TSV there shouldn't be any problems in this regard.

However, it is still unclear whether the handball players will still be allowed to compete under HSG Würm-Mitte during games, although they are no longer a syndicate as of July 1st.

Waterloo: "That is currently being clarified with the association."
