A new chef has also been found in the meantime.

Hinterriß - These are special times for the Tölz section of the German Alpine Club.

Under the conceivably difficult conditions of the corona pandemic, by far the largest renovation and renovation measure of the 100-year-old "Tölzer Hütte" on Schafreuter had to be tackled.

And as if that weren't enough of a burden, during this time the board member Paul Schenk died much too early at the age of 55, who was the driving force behind this alpine construction project.

Successor to the late Paul Schenk will be elected on July 13th

If all goes well, the alpine lodging house can be opened on July 1st.

Less than two weeks later, the members of the largest association in the district then have the sad duty to choose a successor for Paul Schenk.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 13th, at 7 p.m. in the Ellbacher Schützenhaus.

Then the deceased will be remembered again.

"Without his great dedication, we would not have managed this conversion," says hut warden Max Nichtl as well as other active members of the Alpine Club.

Koch jumped out at short notice, found a replacement

So on Thursday the time has come that the hut will finally open again after more than a year of renovation-related closure.

The new hosts are Alexander and Sylvia Schrempf, who came to the Karwendel from the Gastein Valley in the Salzburger Land.

When asked, the hut landlord confirms that her cook recently canceled, as was recently reported on social networks.

But it was "like a miracle, now a well-suited applicant from the Allgäu has been found".

According to Alexander Schrempf, the “three G” valid in Tyrol apply to hut guests: vaccinated, tested or recovered.

If you want to spend the night at the hut, you have to register via the Tölzer Hütte website.

For groups of six or more people, registration must be made via the email address wirt@toelzer-huette.at.

Just in time for the opening of the hut, all construction work has been completed and the interior fittings have also been completely installed, as site manager Wolfgang Buchner has confirmed.

In view of the considerable costs of their hut conversion, the section is now asking for donations on its website (www.dav-toelz.de) to its account DE25 7005 4306 0011 1115 80. rbe

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our new, regular Bad Tölz newsletter.
