The Würmtal officially started this year's city cycling on Sunday - and it was not the only cycling event.

For the city bike start, bicycle enthusiasts from numerous registered groups had gathered in the morning in wonderful weather on the Planegg market square, where the mayors gave the symbolic starting shot.

Würmtal

- Rudolph Haux (Mayor Krailling), Martin Feldner (3rd Mayor Graefelfing), Hermann Nafziger (Mayor Planegg), Dr. Brigitte Kössinger (Mayor Gauting) and Harald Zipfel (Mayor Neuried) take part in the city cycling. In the Starnberg district it will run until July 10th. 147 cyclists and 25 groups are registered in Gauting, up to yesterday there were more than 15,000 kilometers cycled. But that doesn't mean much so early in the action. In Krailling there are 61 active cyclists and 16 teams, almost 6000 kilometers have been reported so far. In the district of Munich, city cycling only started at the weekend - hence the appointment in Planegg - and lasts until July 17th.

The second bicycle demonstration had a completely different background: for the 60th anniversary of Amnesty International, the local group Würmtal organized a bicycle demonstration across the Würmtal. At the start on Saturday in front of the Gräfelfinger Bürgerhaus (front from left) Hella Horst (organization), Barbara Schulz (group spokesperson) and Ludger Wolter (organization) as well as other fellow campaigners were there. The tour led, among other things, via Stockdorf to the Gautingen town hall. It was the first Amnesty campaign for some time, and no more are currently planned, as Hella Horst explained. The group is still a little too uncertain about the corona situation, which is why they continue to rely on digital meetings as in previous months.
