SpaceX founder Elon Musk confirms on Twitter that he has moved his primary residence to a prefabricated house near the starbase in Texas.

Cost: $ 50,000.

Texas / USA - Billionaire Warren Buffet is known for his humble lifestyle. He still lives in the house he bought in 1958 for $ 31,500. Elon Musk now seems to want to compete with him: The second richest person in the world, according to his own statements, now lives in a tiny house with around 37 square meters. It's said to be in Boca Chica Village, Texas, and cost $ 50,000.

For the SpaceX founder, the location is particularly attractive, because the prefabricated house is in the immediate vicinity of the future spaceport in Texas.

SpaceX wants to build a small town called Starbase there, so Elon Musk is now looking for neighbors.

"Starbase will grow by several thousand people in the next year or two," writes Musk on Twitter.

SpaceX is looking for workers who also want to settle in Starbase.

Engineers, technicians and construction workers in particular are in demand.

Elon Musk: This is what his tiny house looks like

Elon Musk claims to have sold all but one of the properties.

He is said to have invested the equivalent of 100 million US dollars in SpaceX.

The current tiny house is about 6 x 6 meters.

The basic unit can theoretically be stacked or placed side by side, but Musk seems to get by with 37 square meters.

His prefabricated house is divided into four areas: bathroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom.

With his wife Grimes and son X Æ A-12, things could get a little tight.

My primary home is literally a ~ $ 50k house in Boca Chica / Starbase that I rent from SpaceX.

It's kinda awesome though.

Only house I own is the events house in the Bay Area.

If I sold it, the house would see less use, unless bought by a big family, which might happen some day.

Boxable: The company behind Elon Musk's new primary residence

US company Boxable built the house for Elon Musk, according to a

Techstory

report

.

Boxable is not a stranger.

The company was founded in Las Vegas in 2017 and was already noticed in promotional videos due to its proximity to Tesla and SpaceX - the creators turned to Elon Musk directly.

Hey @elonmusk, @_BOXABL wants to help you build Starbase.

What do you think?

Boxable tries to solve a problem of our time: expensive rents and housing shortages.

Housing construction is slow and expensive, says Galiano Tiramani, one of the company's founders, in a video.

When building a house, everything would still be done by hand: “The methods have not changed for 100 years,” continues Galiano.

All other products such as cell phones or cars would already be manufactured in the factory - with high quality and low prices.

Boxable also wants to use the assembly line assembly invented by Henry Ford for house construction and to manufacture the tiny houses in mass production.

SpaceX: Tiny houses soon on Mars?

SpaceX has set itself the goal of colonizing Mars.

Missile tests have been promising lately, but much remains to be done.

If Boxable has its way, Elon Musk could at least have solved his housing problem on Mars: The company proposes prefabricated houses on Mars in a promotional video.

What Elon Musk thinks of the idea is not yet known.

The unique selling point of Boxable is the shipping: The units can be folded and are then only around 2.5 meters wide and therefore compatible with conventional shipping methods such as container ships, trains, trucks - or maybe even rockets?

Shipping per mile from Las Vegas is said to cost two to four US dollars.

Boxable does not reveal whether this price also applies to the colonization of Mars 140 million miles away.
