The Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Daraa Governorate closed today two factories for the production of milk and cheese that use illegal materials in the manufacturing process.
The Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Daraa, Eng. Hamidi Al-Khalil, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the continuous tours of the markets revealed that the owners of dairy and cheese factories used oxygen water and sodium benzoate in the manufacturing process, which is considered a grave violation according to Consumer Protection Law No. 8.
Al-Khalil explained that the supervisory cadres organized the necessary seizures, confiscated these materials and closed the two laboratories for a period of 15 days as a preliminary measure, and the violators were referred to the duly competent judiciary.
