Two out of three French people shunned the ballot box again on Sunday.
Nothing to do with 2015, where, in the majority in the first round (50.09%), abstention fell by 8.5 points in the second and around 10 points in regions where the National Front was particularly high (Paca, Grand Est, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Center-Val de Loire).

This time, the variations are minimal.
Even in Paca, where the dramatization of the issues and the media coverage of the ballot were maximum.
It is certainly the region where abstention fell the most, going from 66.28% to 63.16%.
But these 3.12 more voter points (3.35 in the Alpes-Maritimes, 3.30 in the Var) are low compared to 6.43 points in 2015. Thierry Mariani was unable to re-mobilize RN voters - even if it wins 104,000 votes from one Sunday to the next - but the "republican front", effective when one sticks to the votes cast, was not an element of reconquest of the abstainers.
