The monodramatic theatrical work “The Highway of Death” for the National Theater in Hama, directed by Muhammad Talawi, presents the suffering of the displaced from the homeland due to the war, and depicts their conditions in the camps as a result of their alienation from their country.
The performance presented at the opening of the first monodrama festival on the stage of the Culture Palace in Hama was represented by the artist Muhammad Najm. The text of which was written by the Iraqi Qassem Matroud talks about a man whose wife died in one of the camps and he is trying to find a place to bury her body in, but this land that is saturated with mold is not in any way like dirt. The Monodrama Festival organized by the Directorate of Theaters, Music and Hama National Theater, Muammar al-Saadi, head of the branch of the Artists Syndicate in the governorate, spoke about its importance in highlighting the art of monodrama as an experiment in which one actor appears on stage, but in fact there is a group of workers behind the scenes who contribute together in presenting a work Illuminated in the world of the father of arts.
Director of Hama Culture Sami Taha pointed out the importance of festivals and their role in activating the cultural movement, indicating that the art of theater embodies the dramatic or comedic reality of life and provides a great scope for creativity.
Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Amouri, member of the Executive Office in Hama Governorate for the Culture Sector, emphasized the cultural and civilizational depth of Syria and the contribution of the Ministry of Culture and the Theater Directorate in supporting cultural activity, especially through the launch of this festival.
Director Mohamed Tallawy considered the festival an opportunity for young people to highlight their talent and highlight a number of creators to take their way to a better future.
Attending the first day of the festival continued a video showing the meaning of the monodrama and the Syrian experience in this field.
The opening of the festival was attended by a crowd of writers, artists and theater goers in Hama.
During the festival days, which conclude on Friday, six performances are shown, in addition to the opening show, “The State of the World,” “Containers Without a Homeland,” “House on the Front,” “Honor Night,” and “Old Words,” in addition to two lectures on “The Impact of Arab Theater in Rehabilitation of the Mind” and “The Monodrama Experience in Arab Theatre”.
