Dr. Faisal Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, affirmed during his meeting today, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, and Mohammed Khaled Al-Khiari, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, the importance of the commitment of the United Nations forces operating in the Golan “Endoof” to its mandate stipulated in a resolution relevant Security Council.
Minister Miqdad indicated that the presence of peacekeeping forces is not a substitute for finding a final solution to the problems of the occupation, stressing Syria's inalienable right to restore the occupied Syrian Golan to the bosom of the homeland.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates referred to the Syrian government's firm position represented in providing support for the work of the "Endof" force in order to fully and fully implement the mandate entrusted to it, specifically monitoring the disengagement and revealing the Israeli violations of the Separation of Forces Agreement, represented by its repeated attacks on Syrian sovereignty.
Dr. Al-Miqdad reiterated his condemnation of the recent statements issued by the US administration, which ignore United Nations resolutions recognizing the Golan as an occupied Syrian Arab land.
For his part, Lacroix welcomed the assistance and support provided by the Syrian state to the peacekeeping forces and stressed the importance of maintaining a good relationship with the government of the host country.
In turn, Al-Khiari spoke about the role of the peacekeeping forces should be to create an environment of stability and calm in parallel with working to find a just solution to the conflict.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Brigadier General Azdshir Al-Hourani, Head of the Armistice Delegation Office, Ambassador Milad Attia, Director of the International Organizations and Conferences Department, Warif Al-Halabi, Director of the Media Department, Dr. Abdullah Hallaq, Director of the Private Office Department, Dr. Ammar Awad from the International Organizations and Conferences Department, and Roaa Sharbaji from the Minister’s Office Among the United Nations forces operating in the Golan are the commander of the United Nations forces operating in the Golan “Endouf” General Ashwar Hamal, Major Sorej Goreng and the accompanying delegation of United Nations officials.
