A Mexican dog named Oreo has become
one of the stars of the work to search for survivors
in the rubble of the collapsed building in Surfside, north of Miami, Florida.
Rescue teams have been

small dimensions and its hearing capacity
, Oreo is indispensable in these key hours to locate the residents who were buried under the ruins of the building.

"He can go wherever he wants," his trainer, Moisés Soffer, a member of the Cadena Internacional organization, told The Associated Press.

can follow voices
that big dogs would not be able to hear.
Also due to its weight, it can go to places that are more unstable for other dogs ”, he concluded.

The authorities have not clarified the possible causes of the collapse, but different reports suggest that it may be related to the poor condition of the building.
The president of the condominium association Champlain Towers South sent a letter last April to the owners, in which she indicated that the structural damage detected in 2018 by an engineer had "significantly worsened".
