Palestinian Foreign Ministry: Occupation’s demolition of homes in Al-Bustan neighborhood is a crime against the people of occupied Jerusalem

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the crime of the Israeli occupation demolishing homes and facilities in the Al-Bustan neighborhood in the town of Silwan in occupied Jerusalem is an extension of the large-scale ethnic cleansing process against Jerusalemites in light of the silence of the international community.

Wafa Agency quoted the Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement today that the occupation government is continuing its expansionist colonial plans in the West Bank, especially in occupied Jerusalem, in an attempt to Judaize the holy city and change its identity and its cultural and historical landmarks, taking advantage of the United States’ absolute support for it in implementing its colonial agendas, which undermines any opportunity to achieve a settlement. .

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry expressed regret for the silence of the international community regarding the continuous crimes of the occupation against the Palestinians and its plans to empty Jerusalem of the Palestinian presence, warning that the next stage will witness more crimes of displacement and ethnic cleansing in light of the failure of the United Nations to assume its responsibilities towards the occupation’s violations of the rights of the Palestinian people and its inability to implement International law and international legitimacy resolutions.

This morning, the occupation forces stormed the Al-Bustan neighborhood with 40 bulldozers, closed all its entrances, and demolished a commercial facility paving the way to reach the homes threatened with demolition, amid heavy shooting and poison gas canisters at Palestinians to prevent them from reaching the demolition site, injuring several of them and suffocating.

Earlier this month, the occupation authorities handed the residents of the neighborhood notices to demolish the entire neighborhood in two phases. The first includes 13 homes, and its people were placed between fire, to demolish their homes with their own hands during a maximum period on the twenty-seventh of June, which ended at dawn yesterday, and that the occupation would demolish them at any moment with forcing them to Paying the high costs of demolition, while the second phase includes the demolition of the remaining homes during the next month of August.
