Three Latino children die in a Los Angeles home under suspicious circumstances. His mother is detained

The lifeless bodies of three children under the age of 3 were found in a Los Angeles home on Monday, under what police consider suspicious circumstances, authorities said.

The 28-year-old mother of the children was arrested for questioning, Lieutenant Charles Calderaro told the NBC station in Los Angeles. 

Agents from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office responded at around 12:45 p.m. (local time) to the notice that two children were not breathing in a home in the East Los Angeles neighborhood, Calderaro explained. 

When they arrived, a girl and two boys who were not breathing were found in a bedroom.

One of the minors was 6 months old. 

Despite the resuscitation maneuvers, the three ended up being declared dead in the same place, Calderaro said.

The lieutenant said they did not show "any obvious signs" of trauma, according to the Los Angeles Times. 

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Department will perform autopsies to determine the causes of death for the minors.

The sheriff's office said there were no previous reports of abuse or neglect at the home.

The mother was in the house at the time the agents arrived.

Another person was also in the house, possibly a relative of the minors and who alerted the police, according to the authorities.

Investigators from the Homicide Department began processing the crime scene, collecting evidence and conducting interviews with family members and potential witnesses.
