Two residential and commercial buildings that shape the cityscape are causing heated debates among city councils.

Both the new building next to the city library and the one on the corner of Ludwig- and Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße were on the agenda of the building committee.

And in that it got loud.

Starnberg - When it comes to new buildings in the city center, the Starnberg building committee is split like rarely. This was evident in the debate about the two most prominent projects currently: the new building on Hauptstraße next to the city library and the planned new building on the corner of Ludwig- and Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße. The latter remains a bone of contention.

For the approved project on the main road, for which work has already started, a architecture was available, i.e. a subsequent change.

Among other things, this affected the balconies and terraces and an increase in the ridge height by 16 centimeters.

The committee said almost nothing about this.

The rescheduling also included the right-hand side (if you are standing in front of the building) on the path towards Vogelanger.

There were some models, steps or a platform for this.

The decision was made for a platform, behind it, along the path, greenery in pots, which takes on the shape of the current library forecourt.

Its planned redesign, said city architect Stephan Weinl, is not in conflict with the new building.

City councilor Franz Heidinger railed heavily against the building

City councilor Franz Heidinger (BLS) railed heavily against the building. The building applicant gets everything approved, but the city administration does not look at its own interests because of the forecourt design: "The administration did not look at it." He was the only one to vote against the architecture.

Heidinger was also a little irritated, because he is a proponent of the new building project on Ludwigstrasse, which, however, was de facto rejected again in the same meeting shortly before. The new plan provided for 19 apartments and a commercial unit, a new roof (the previous one had failed in committee) and a few other things. Weinl repeated his concerns that the rather large building and its facade did not fit into the surroundings, especially Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße. The city architect would like a two-part structure, based on the designs of many houses on Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße. So you should postpone the application until the development plan has been completed, which is currently in progress. Ludwig Jägerhuber (CSU) agreed: The application was a "city planning super-GAU",the roof reminds him of the protective structure of the reactor in Chernobyl.

Marc Fiedler warns against constantly making new specifications for the property developer

Half of the committee saw it very differently.

Marc Fiedler (FDP) warned against constantly making new specifications for the builder, which he fulfilled and then did not get a permit.

Heidinger said: “It doesn't look that bad.” And Eva Pfister (BMS) attested that the client had fulfilled all wishes and requirements.

Whether you like the building or not, shouldn't matter.

After all, every month costs the builder money.

Addressing Weinl, she said that the building was also on Ludwigstrasse - and it looks different there than on Kaiser-Wilhelm-Strasse.

In the end, six city councilors across the parliamentary groups voted against the recommendation of the administration to postpone the motion, seven in favor.

Among them was Mayor Patrick Janik, who had to be loud after the vote.

Heidinger railed against his colleagues who had no courage - but he phrased it more vehemently, which Janik immediately stopped and withdrew from him.

The mayor made it unmistakably clear that he would not allow insults.
