Faced with the vandalism that took place in the afternoon in Barranquilla, the mayor of the city, Jaime Pumarejo, wrote on his Twitter account: «Violence only generates more violence.

I invite you to shed your hatred and build a better country.

We have not repressed - and we will not! - the peaceful protest, but we do order to continue identifying, capturing and prosecuting those who commit acts of vandalism and terrorists.

General Vargas concluded by saying that, in the case of the arrest of buses with SITP passengers in Bogotá, the police, together with the Attorney General's Office, are studying whether the type of crime committed could be kidnapping.
