Washington DC - Former US President Donald Trump sharply criticized his successor Joe Biden's immigration policy during a visit to the US state of Texas.

At his meeting with Texas Governor Greg Abbot, the 75-year-old accused the Biden government of admitting "murderers, rapists and dealers" to the US, thereby undoing the work he himself had done during his tenure.

Donald Trump: Ex-US President attacks his successor - "screw loose"

Trump campaigned in the run-up to the US presidential election in 2016 with the promise to build a wall on the border between the US and Mexico to cope with illegal immigration.

During his time as President, Trump partially implemented his promise and had several hundred kilometers of border wall built.

"We did a great job

," said the former US President.

As one of his first acts, Joe Biden suspended funding for Trump's border wall and pursued a much more liberal migration policy than his predecessor.

A fact that is reason enough for Trump to attack the US President personally.

Biden's policy of open borders is "disastrous" and can only be traced back to two possible explanations, according to Trump: "You are either incompetent or for whatever reason you have a screw loose and want open borders."

Trump's colleague Abbot also dealt against President Biden.

"It is a much more dangerous situation than ever before," said the governor of Texas, speaking of the "dramatic problems" that the policy of the Biden administration is said to have created in his state.

In May, US authorities picked up more migrants on the southern border than they had in more than two decades.

180,034 illegal crossings were registered, as the border guard explained.

Around 60 percent of the people were deported again immediately.
