Outside SOGO in Causeway Bay, a police officer was attacked at night. Sources at the scene stated that the injured uniformed police officer was stabbed with a knife on the back of his left hand near the armpit. He was "blooded a lot on the spot" and was sent to an ambulance.

The male suspect fell to the ground after poking his heart. There was a lot of blood stains on the scene.

The ambulanceman applied extracardiac pressure to him and was sent to the hospital by ambulance for treatment. He died at 11:20 in the evening.

The Commissioner of Police Xiao Zeyi was present to understand the incident.

The Chief Executive’s Office issued a press release in the evening in response to the incident, saying that the Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, who had just returned to Hong Kong, strongly condemned the injured police officer and wished him a speedy recovery.

According to the press release, Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor was also concerned about a number of incidents suspected of breaking the law and disrupting public order that occurred today, including those who threw multiple bottles of flammable substances on the slopes of Government House near Lower Albert Road in the early morning, causing fires; in the afternoon, multiple areas in Hong Kong Individuals were also arrested for possession of imitation firearms, possession of offensive weapons, insulting the national flag, and distributing seditious publications.

Carrie Lam condemned such acts of lawlessness and undermining public order, obviously endangering social peace and challenging the regime of the SAR.

Carrie Lam said that after the black violent incidents in the second half of 2019, the public deeply resented the violent behavior and cherished the social stability since the implementation of the "Hong Kong National Security Law" last year.

She fully supports the police to take decisive enforcement actions against violence and illegal acts, maintain law and order, and protect the safety of citizens' lives and property.
