THE EUROPEAN HEALTH PASS COMES INTO FORCE ON JULY 1

The “health pass”, operational in France since June 9, notably in digital version with the TousAntiCovid application, has made travel to Europe easier since July 1. It fits into the system of the European health passport, the principle of which is simple: any proof of vaccination (one of the four vaccines recognized in the EU), PCR test or recovery from Covid-19 issued by a Member State is automatically recognized by the other 26, as well as by Switzerland, Iceland and Norway. Concretely, a Greek or Italian border police officer will flash a QR code presented by a traveler from France, Germany, the Netherlands ... without worrying about the language in which the vaccination or test certificate was written. .Its control terminal will indicate with a green or red color whether or not the person can enter the territory. You will still be able to present your certified proof of vaccination or test in paper format. Children under 11 are exempt from a health pass.

  • Vaccinated or not, the French can travel to most European countries this summer, under conditions that may change depending on the Delta variant.

A growing proportion of European countries, however, exempt vaccinated tourists from testing.

  • In particular, children should have PCR or antigen tests at varying ages.

The Twenty-Seven generally exempt those under 12 years of age.

But Italy, for example, requires it from the age of 6.

  • Southern European destinations are counting on the return of international tourists this summer.

Italy, Greece, Spain, Croatia ... are easing health restrictions.

Portugal is cautiously deconfining due to a localized upsurge of the Delta variant.

  • Since June 9, the French authorities no longer impose compelling reasons on vaccinated tourists who go to countries classified as green (including all of Europe) and orange.

  • But each state remains sovereign to define its own restrictions.

Classified as "green", Japan does not accept, for example, the arrival of French tourists.

  • Tourism is not a compelling reason, it remains impossible for the unvaccinated to travel beyond Europe with the exception of Lebanon.

  • In France, the tourism industry is preparing for a Franco-French summer vacation.

The thirst for travel being strong and the epidemic receding, a "revenge tourism" is nevertheless likely.

Return conditions in France

Since June 9, France has again authorized tourist travel beyond Europe.

But the modalities vary depending on the health situation in third countries and the vaccination of travelers.

The Hexagon thus classifies the countries of the world in three colors (green, orange and red).

Please note: traveling to these countries is not automatic.

The color also determines the conditions of return to France.
