Gender equality: France promotes an international ISO standard

For twenty-five years, the ISO 14001 standard has enabled the company which receives it to certify that it complies with a certain number of rules and procedures in environmental management.

This label is recognized worldwide as it is awarded by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

There is also, in the field of quality management, the ISO 9001 standard. Will there soon be a new ISO standard on equality between women and men?

This is France's firm intention, formulated Thursday by the Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Franck Riester, at the Generation Equality Forum, an event organized this week by the UN and the Elysee.

Following the French presidency of the G7 in 2019, Afnor (Association française de normalization) proposed to create an international standard on gender equality.

The French body has drawn up a "national normative" document which should serve as a working basis for the text.
