One of the largest projects in the Berglern community has started: subsidized housing on Bürgermeister-Strobl-Strasse opposite the fire station.

Berglern - As Mayor Anton Scherer reported when asked, there was no official groundbreaking due to the corona, as was the laying of the foundation stone.

"But we want to organize a topping-out ceremony."

A building with a full basement with two full floors and six apartments of different shapes is to be built on the site. The total investment is 2.1 million euros. One of the apartments will be made wheelchair accessible, the rest will be barrier-free.

As is well known, there had been some confusion and confusion about the project, mainly because the immediate neighbors had expressed concerns and felt they were not sufficiently involved. Vice Mayor Otmar Lerch got the coals out of the fire. Nevertheless, the building had to be rescheduled again in order to take into account the needs of the neighbors: The entrance was relocated to the opposite side. The whole building is now accessible from Bürgermeister-Strobl-Straße. In addition, the municipality once lost the architect, which resulted in further delays.

But now the construction site is up and running and, according to Scherer, is on schedule and on budget.

The shell should be tight by autumn so that the interior work can continue over the winter.

The plan provides for the outdoor facilities to be built in the coming spring.

Now that the excavation pit has been dug and the basement has begun, the dimensions of the new building become apparent - and with it the concerns that the neighbors had announced.

It will be exciting to see how the building and its residents will be integrated into the village.

The planners had presented a new concept to the local council.

Accordingly, the outdoor facilities become a kind of public meeting place.

In order to create this openness, there should be no fence around the property.

The play areas for children are also designed to be wheelchair accessible, again so as not to exclude anyone.

The municipality of Berglern is creating something on the Bürgermeister-Strobl-Straße that can become exemplary.
