Damascus-SANA

The Forestry and Fire Monitoring Platform of the General Authority for Remote Sensing warned of the possibility of fires spreading from today, Thursday, until the third of this month, in forest areas in northwest Syria.

The head of the platform at the authority, Dr. Rosa Karmouqa, indicated in a statement to a representative of SANA that the platform published an update of its product showing the map of the intensity index of the fire spread on the first of July, showing that there is a noticeable increase, ranging between medium and high, with noticeable areas within the very high risk index.

Karmouqa explained that the average level of fire risk often starts from grasslands that can be controlled in most cases, and the high level of risk includes fires of all types of fuel, "grass and soft and coarse forest bed", as they become dangerous on the slopes and can be controlled if faced at the start of outbreak, in addition The level of danger is very high, and it is associated with heat, drought and winds, which makes it spread quickly, and its suppression requires organized and comprehensive efforts.

The Directorate General of Meteorology expected in its morning bulletin today that the weather will be hot in summer in general and very hot in the eastern regions, the island and the Badia. The winds will be westerly to southwesterly between light and moderate, active in the evening, and the sea is light with high waves.
