The ministerial committee in charge of tracking the implementation rates of service projects in Homs governorate was briefed on the reality of work in a number of service projects in the governorate.

The tour included the school complex, the city council, the craft area in Al-Qusayr, the irrigation canal C3 in Rablah, the rural products market in the Al-Ikhar neighborhood, the Al-Baath University Hospital, the Great Homs Hospital, the Al-Rastan Hospital, and the automated bakery there.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Abdul Kafi Al-Khatib, head of Al-Qusayr city council, pointed out a study to rehabilitate a number of vital facilities in the city, including the school complex, the craft area and the city council, explaining that the city currently includes 2,500 families who have returned in 3 batches from 2019, and it is expected that 1,000 families will return soon. .

Engineer Ismail Ismail, Director of Water Resources in Homs, pointed out the great efforts made in rehabilitating water projects and allocating the necessary funds for them, explaining that today's tour included the C3 irrigation canal branching from the main Jossiya Canal, which was rehabilitated this year according to a contract worth 122 million troy 5,000 dunams, indicating that the irrigation of the lands is carried out according to programs developed in cooperation with the agricultural associations, in which the irrigation rates and times are determined.

Engineer Mona Mahfoud, head of the Rural and Family Development Department in the Directorate of Agriculture in Homs, explained that the implementation rate of the rural product market project, which is located in the ecological garden in the Al-Ikhar neighborhood, reached 75 percent, and that the goal of the market, which the government provided a grant of 160 million pounds to implement, is to introduce the rural product permanently.

Dr. Firas Zureika, Director of the University Hospital at Al-Baath University, explained that the hospital will be put into service within days and is equipped with the latest equipment, and work will start initially in the ambulance and clinic departments and gradually and according to the availability of capabilities and resources, work will be expanded, knowing that 45 resident doctors have recently arrived at the hospital

The head of the engineering department in the Homs Health Directorate, Engineer Layal Salloum, indicated that the first phase of the implementation of the nuclear medicine block project in the Great Hospital of Homs, at a cost of 500 million pounds, has been completed.

With regard to Al-Rastan Hospital, Salloum indicated that within two months, the first phase of preparing the infrastructure of the hospital will be completed, where the implementation rate is currently 50 percent.

Eng. Hassan Tibani, Chairman of the Rastan City Council, indicated that the implementation rate of the automatic bakery in the city is 90 percent, and that the production lines are awaited to be put into service.

The ministerial tour was followed by an expanded meeting held at the Cultural Center that included the directors of the relevant service institutions and companies and members of the People’s Assembly in the governorate. The Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tammam Raad, stressed the importance of the irrigation network projects implemented in the Upper Orontes, which irrigate 6800 hectares, as well as the Homs-Hama irrigation network project, which was rehabilitated in the year The current irrigates 21 thousand hectares, as it contributes as a whole to supporting agricultural production, securing a source of income for the displaced and achieving social stability for them.

In turn, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, drew attention to the importance of this tour in setting a future vision for priority projects, including the nuclear medicine block project in the Great Hospital of Homs, as it serves the central region, as well as the Al-Rastan Hospital, which was requested by the Homs Health Directorate to draw up a study to rehabilitate the emergency department. He put it in investment as soon as possible, pointing to the importance of completing the university hospital, which will be put into service next week.

For his part, the Governor of Homs, Eng. Bassam Parsik, reviewed the governorate’s strategic plan and investment plan projects for the current year for the local administration and the environment, explaining that the difficulties encountered in implementing government grant projects were followed up with the former ministerial committee, which in turn followed them up with the relevant ministries and solutions were developed to overcome them.

Parsik indicated that the projects that the governorate will focus on include the information bank and the rural and agricultural development map, which in turn will be the basis for solving many problems, pointing out that during the tour, the role of the private sector in reconstruction and the amendment of the construction control system and the importance of simplifying procedures for citizens and the expansion of service centers was discussed. There are currently 20 citizen centers distributed in the city and the countryside.
