The "place without a name" finally has a name: Haarer Anger ".

The council decided that.

The decision bumps into some citizens.

The poll favorite was ignored.

Haar

- The square between the Bürgerhaus and Poststadl in Haar has been given a new name: Haarer Anger.

That was decided by the local council at the latest meeting.

The decision was preceded by a public survey.

The local councils decided against the citizens' proposal.

The “Place without a Name” between the Bürgerhaus and the Poststadl should be given a unique address.

Navigation systems would not have found the place, according to the municipal administration.

In April, Haar's local councils proposed names.

Gender proposal causes a stir

The proposal by the Green Group caused a sensation: They demanded that the square be named Bürgerplatz (we reported).

The Greens wanted to address women, diverse people and trans people - that is, people "who do not want to be reduced to one gender and many more".

So it is on the website of the local Green Association.

The municipal council finally chose six possible names: Bürgerplatz, Bürgerinnenplatz, Nikolausplatz, Posthalterplatz, Postwiesn - and Bürgerplatz.

The six proposals were submitted to the citizens of Haar for online and paper voting.

The citizens had a month to decide.

They could also make their own suggestions.

Hackers infiltrate choice: "Goods annoyed"

Thereupon 3700 votes were taken online - whereby the high number made the municipal administration suspicious.

In fact, fraudsters tried to manipulate the election with so-called bots.

"Very unpleasant," said Mayor Andreas Bukowski at the meeting of the local council on Tuesday.

"At first we were very surprised and then annoyed," reports City Hall press spokeswoman Claudia Erl.

The digital fraudsters obviously liked the name Posthalterplatz particularly well - almost 1,300 votes for the proposal were invalid.

The town hall also had to correct the number of votes for Postwiesn and Bürgerplatz downwards.

Cheeseburger place?

Citizen: outside square?

Ultimately, the name Postwiesn won with 772 votes.

In front of Nikolausplatz (408 votes) and Bürgerplatz (238 votes).

The Bürgerplatz received 208 votes - fifth place.

Citizens criticized, however, that the name Postwiesn has already been given to a meadow near the Jesus Church in Haar.

The citizens also suggested almost 200 names of their own.

Including less serious names such as Cheeseburgerplatz, Bürger: Außenplatz or Andreas-Bukowski-mag-Polls-like-Platz.

Stadlplatz, Max-Mannheimer-Platz - and Haarer Anger made it onto the shortlist.

"Citizen participation is not the right means in hair"

In the most recent meeting, the local council voted on its own six proposals and another five names of citizens.

The town hall chose a somewhat complicated three-course electoral system: in the first ballot each member of the council received five votes and in the second ballot three votes each.

In the final vote, the councils had to choose a proposal from three remaining names.

The runner-up went to the citizens' proposal Haarer Anger.

The committee then had to formally decide on the naming.

There were three votes against.

Users on Facebook were disappointed with the decision - Postwiesn was after all the clear preferred name of the citizens.

Some therefore called for a new election.

A Facebook user commented on the decision of the municipal council: "Citizen participation then seems to be not the right means in the hair."
