So far, entry into Croatia was allowed for Germans without restrictions.
Now the government has tightened the regulations without warning.
Until recently, travelers from countries with low infection rates hardly had to worry about strict rules when vacationing in Croatia - this also applied to German tourists.
Due to the fact that Germany was on the green list of the European Center for the Prevention and Control of Diseases (ECDC), entry to Croatia was "made possible under the same conditions as before the onset of the COVID-19 disease" - i.e.
completely without the usual requirements, such as mandatory reporting or testing.
That has now changed completely surprisingly.
These stricter entry rules apply in Croatia
Since Thursday (July 1), border officials have been demanding the
new, EU-wide valid Corona certificate
, also known as the “Green Pass”,
from all travelers
.
The Croatian Ministry of the Interior informs about this on its website.
This rule applies regardless of where the travelers are from.
For the time being, however, certificates of a negative test, a complete corona vaccination or proof of recovery are also accepted if they come from countries of the European Union or the Schengen area as well as countries and regions connected to the Schengen area.
A PCR test must not be older than 72 hours, an antigen test not older than 48 hours.

After tightening the entry regulations: traffic jams on the route to Croatia
Due to the stricter entry rules, there were traffic jams at the Gorican border crossing to Hungary on Thursday, as reported by the German press agency.
Accordingly, travelers had to wait
around two to three hours for their border clearance
.
In addition to Germans, the section of the motorway is also used by Czechs, Poles and Slovaks who want to get to Croatia via Hungary.
That is why the sudden adjustment of the entry regulations caused resentment among the government in Prague - half a million Czechs are expected to plan a vacation in Croatia in the summer, it is said.
"Nobody expected that, we were not informed about it," criticized Prime Minister Andrej Babis.
"We were surprised by the change." (Fk)
