It's the next big number: Yesterday, the District Office and the BRK reported that more than 80,000 people in the Starnberg district have now been vaccinated against the corona virus at least once.

The vaccination rate is one of the highest in Bavaria.

District

- It was a difficult birth until last Christmas in Germany and thus also in the Starnberg district, the vaccinations against the corona virus began. District Administrator Stefan Frey is now looking at what has been achieved with a certain amount of pride: More than 80,000 people in the district have been vaccinated against the virus, and almost 24,000 of them have also received a second injection. And even if the calculated vaccination rates show statistical inaccuracies, the district still holds a top position in Bavaria in the ratio of vaccinated to the total population with 58.9 percent.

District office spokesman Stefan Diebl attributes this in an interview with Starnberger Merkur to the fact that Frey and the medical coordinator Dr. Bernhard Junge-Hülsing "a good distribution of vaccination events" to the vaccination center of the district and the medical practices was a major concern. Due to the high density of resident doctors, the Starnberg district is only outnumbered by the large cities of Munich, Nuremberg and Augsburg as well as the densely populated districts of Munich, Regensburg and Rosenheim. In addition, the special delivery of 10,000 cans of Astrazeneca in April "provided significant relief in times of vaccine shortages". On the other hand, there were many challengesincluding coping with the wave of second vaccinations in recent weeks and the resulting annoyance of the population.

The vast majority of people were vaccinated with Astrazeneca and Biontech, although the uncertainties about the Astrazeneca vaccine were a problem, Diebl admits.

"The vaccine from Moderna is only now increasing to a significant extent." Whereby: Diebl does not want to deny a certain vaccination saturation.

“The problem is that people are becoming increasingly picky.” In some cases, Moderna even rejects the vaccine.

Nevertheless, the vaccination center has so far been able to inoculate everything that has been delivered.

"Our vaccination center has not yet had to throw away a vaccine because the expiry date has passed."

This Friday, according to the state government, the prioritization in the vaccination centers no longer applies - a step that had already been taken in the medical practices in mid-May. What that means? Those who registered first or who are now registering will get it earlier than others - with one exception: Those who belong to priority groups 1 and 2 and are newly registered on the BayIMCO Internet portal should receive a vaccination appointment immediately, explains Diebl. “People who are already registered do not lose their status in the BayIMCO. All other groups of people will be invited after the date of registration ”- regardless of previous illnesses.

How things will continue with the vaccination center after September 30th, whether it will be replaced by mobile vaccination teams, for example, is still open. The district office expects concrete statements from the Ministry of Health "in the next few days", said Diebl.
